# How do I configure the columns in the Variant Tables?
## A guide to personalizing your workspace by adding, reordering, and saving custom column layouts for your analyses.
đź’ˇ **Note on Availability**
This feature is currently available for the **Variant Viewer** (Small Variants) on the **Main platform**. It will be extended to the Large Variant Viewer (CNVs & SVs) in the upcoming Spring Release. You can already explore these new capabilities early by switching to [Preview mode](https://hubspot.seqone.com/knowledge-base/main-and-preview-understanding-the-release-system?hsLang=en)!
The columns displayed in the variants table can be fully customized via the **Organize your columns** menu, accessible via the icon at the top right of the table.
#### 🛠️ Customizing Your View
- **Adding and Removing Columns:** In the left section of the menu, click on a column name to show or hide it. Active columns (those currently displayed) will appear in the right section.
- **Reordering Columns:** You can change the order of your table by clicking and dragging any active column to a new position within the right section. Columns on the top of the list = columns on the left of your table!
#### đź’ľ Saving Column Profiles
If you have a specific layout you use frequently, you can save it as a **Preset**:
1. Enter a name in the **"Create a new preset"** field.
2. Click **Save**.
3. Your custom profile will now be available under the **Private** category in the **"Select profile"** drop-down menu.
#### 🔄 Persistence: How Changes are Applied
By default, the platform provides two standard profiles—**Germline** and **Somatic**—configured with the most relevant columns for those analysis types.
- **Temporary Changes:** If you add or move columns without saving a preset, the table will revert to the default Germline or Somatic view the next time you open an analysis.
- **Permanent Defaults:** If you save and select a **custom profile**, the platform will remember this as your personal default across **all analyses**.
đź’ˇ **Pro-Tip:** When hovering over a profile name in the preset dropdown, a tooltip indicates which **workset** created that profile. This is helpful for identifying if a saved layout is compatible with the specific data fields of your current analysis. If not, you might see columns populated with N/As!
