Spring 2026 🌻 Lab Workflow Configuration
Standardize protocols, customize reports, lock configurations, automate with APIs: everything you need to run your lab your way.

✅ Protocol Module
We are excited to introduce the Protocol Module, a new tool designed to help your lab standardize and track analysis workflows directly within the platform!
The module is built around two components: a settings interface for building and managing your protocols, and a case-level checklist for tracking progress on individual analyses.
Here's how to get started:
- Build your protocols: Head to the "Protocols" tab in your Entity Settings to create protocols by adding and ordering specific tasks tailored to your lab's SOPs.
- Assign to an analysis: Select a protocol at analysis launch, or attach one later via the Workflow tab in the Analysis drawer.
- Track your progress: Mark tasks as complete directly from the Analysis drawer. Each completed task automatically records the user and date for full traceability.
🔒 Tighter Filter Control with Preset Locking
You can now lock filter presets at the project level to enforce standardized, read-only filtering across all analyses in a project — ideal for regulated workflows. To set it up:
-
create and save your preferred preset from any analysis
-
head to the project settings to select it and lock it for the whole project.
In the Users Permission tab, this option is governed by the "Update Project Settings" permission, which also covers other project-level configurations such as QC profiles.
Additionally, Combo presets can now also be selected as the default preset in project settings.
📋 More Flexible Reporting with Custom Variant Sections
We are continuing to expand the customization options available in our reporting module, with the introduction of Custom Sections!
You can now create fully personalized variant sections in your report templates, organized around the criteria that matter most to your lab. Each section is defined by a name, and a combination of tags and pathogenicity classifications.
How to set it up:
-
Head to the "Report" section of your Entity Settings to create and manage your custom sections
-
In your reporting templates management pages, add and organise the sections using drag & drop.
- When generating a clinical report for a sample, select the desired Template with sections.
Each variant is automatically matched to the most relevant section based on your settings — but you retain full control and can manually reassign any variant to a different section if needed.
📝 Reporting Workflow Updates
- Settings Configuration Lift
Reporting Settings now have their own section in the Settings main navigation bar, for a quicker access. You’ll find the template pages with a fresh look, featuring new search and sort functions and more accessible buttons for editing or deleting resources.
The Template editor’s look has been refined to improve clarity, without changing the content. - Simplified Report Generation:
- Lighter View: The previous three-tab setup has been replaced by a single, lightweight page. Selecting a template now automatically populates your preset sections for a faster start.
- Real-time Visualization: A new Preview button at the top of the page allows you to see your report live before finalizing. From there or at any other time, you can easily save a draft or validate it for download.
- The variant selection interface (Include/Exclude, reported Pathogenicity Class) has also been visually refreshed.
- Reporting improvement for Somatic analyses: the automated Variant Details tables of the report have been updated to display more relevant information.
- 💡 Please note that reports viewed in the new Preview mode will now automatically include a "Research Use Only" watermark in the footer.
⚙️ Settings Navigation Redesigned
The Settings menu has been refreshed with a new look and a more intuitive organization to streamline your administrative tasks.
- Lab vs. Personal: Settings are now split into
- Entity Settings for lab-wide configurations (Reporting, Panels, User Permissions)
- My Account for personal preferences (Signature, Password Reset).
- Improved Lists Management: The Panels section now groups two tabs for Transcripts and Gene Lists. You can use the new text search box and sorting options (Name, Author, or Date) to quickly find and organize your lists!
🤖 Automate your lab with SeqOne Platform Public API v1
A major step towards lab automation, and a continuous focus for the SeqOne platform.
SeqOne now offers a fully documented Public API (v1.5.0), enabling custom integrations, automated workflows, and seamless connections to your LIS/EHR, middleware, and internal tools.
- 10 endpoint categories covering the full analysis lifecycle — Samples, Analyses, Projects, Files, Worksets, Manifests, Users, API Keys, CNV Exome Models, Cytogenomics
- API Key Management: Dedicated page in My Account to generate, manage, and revoke keys
-
Interactive documentation: Explorable API reference at platform.eu.seqone.com/public/docs with full schema reference
- LIMS integration: Push samples, trigger analyses, pull results programmatically
- Workflow orchestration: Connect SeqOne to your existing automation pipelines
- Extended analysis status API: New statuses (including “rejected” and other closed states) accessible via API
