# Why is my analysis marked as "Archived"?
## Learn why older analyses are archived to improve platform performance and discover how to quickly restore them for full access.
To maintain optimal platform performance, SeqOne uses an automated archiving system for older analyses.
When an analysis is archived, the large raw data and results are moved to long-term storage to free up system resources. Any annotations you added remain preserved and accessible.
The analysis is still visible in your list but will be marked with an **"Archived"** 🗄️ status. This is not a permanent change, and you can restore full access to the analysis and its data at any time, free of charge.

### 📂 How to Un-archive an Analysis
You can easily restore one or multiple analyses whenever you need to access them again.
1. **Select and Restore:** From the analysis list, select the archived analysis (or analyses) you want to access and click the restore button. You can also do this directly from the analysis page itself.
2. **Monitor the Process:** A **"reloading"** status indicator and a progress bar will appear, showing that the data is being re-indexed. This process usually takes from 15 min to 3 hours.
3. **Access Your Data:** Once complete, the analysis will be fully active again.
> ***Note:** The unarchiving process is completely free of charge.*
> ***Note for CNV Exome analyses:** A convenient one-click button is available to reload the associated variants for this specific analysis type.*

### 🕰️ How Often Are Analyses Archived?
The archiving process is based on a clear timeline:
- An analysis is **"flagged for archival" 6 months after its initial run date**. This is not affected by how many times you have opened it, or when.
- The system then archives flagged analyses in regular batches.
This means your analysis will **never be archived in less than 6 months**, but it might remain active for slightly longer depending on the timing of the next archiving cycle.
